Oy vey, this is going to be a long one..
This is basically my favourites -- on steroids.
I love the hassle-free of makeup wipes but apparently they're not great for your skin. But for lazy days, I've been using Simple Kind To Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes. I've used it for years and tried other brands' cleansing wipes and none of them compare. It removes even my waterproof mascara and does not leave my skin feeling too tight.
I've been using Josie Maran Argan Cleansing Oil for the most part of this year. I loved the smell, how easy it melts down my makeup.. but it tasted pretty funky if you get it in your mouth! I stuck with it anyway, it got the job done but was I happy when I finished it and picked up Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm. Just as easy to remove makeup, but twice as easy to rinse off! Felt like I could really get away by just using it alone and not have to follow up with a foamy cleanser to remove the oily residue -- which it doesn't have! (Josie Maran's does leave that oily feeling. Just can't get it off by rinsing alone.)
When it comes to exfoliating, nothing else does it like Origins Modern Friction. All these years I thought that all face scrubs were just the same -- nope. Not at all. I felt the difference in my skin the first time I used it. It removed the odd dry patches and all the little bumps I had on and around my nose was just gone! My skin felt really really smooth. I'd honestly miss it if I had gone a week without using it. Serious.
As for the battle against spots, I must say that I treasure my little stash of Aesop Parsley Seed Cleansing Masque samples. I got too excited one time that I bought the Glamglow Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment after reading the good reviews without exploring my options. Yes, Glamglow is good, but Aesop's better! It really calmed down the angry spots that I was having and didn't suck the moisture from my skin too badly. So now I have maybe two to three use of my Glamglow and after that, I am going to Aesop!
Feels like only this year I've started using a serum before moisturiser. Though I used Origins Make A Difference Plus+ Rejuvinating Serum for the most part of the year, I feel like NARSskin Optimal Brightening Concentrate is much better for me. My face was equally hydrated but I feel like the NARSskin sinks in much faster into my skin. There's a whopping huge difference in price between the two though, so I'm not sure what I'll go with once it runs out.
I don't have a favourite daytime moisturiser, but for nighttime I must have my Origins High-Potency Night-A-Mins cream. It's really rich and smells heavenly! Honestly I can't remember the last time I had to deal with dry patches on my skin. Feels like my skin is being taken care of while I sleep.
NARS. Fullstop. Done.
I'll try and type this out in the order of how I put on my makeup;
Foundation has got to be NARS Sheer Glow Foundation or NARS Radiant Tinted Moisturiser, depending on how I will be spending my day. I feel bad for my other foundation but the NARS stuff is just sooo goood!
Concealer -- hands down, NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer.
Eyebrows goes to Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Brow Mousse.
Bronzer/Contour -- duh! NARS Laguna.
Blusher -- NARS Deep Throat. It's my favourite ever. The one I always come back to, I just can't help myself.
Now for eyeshadow.. I've been pretty much using the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette ever since I got it but as I recently bought NARS And God Created The Woman 2 palette, I'm OBSESSED! This one is hard (that's what she said) I can't pick a favourite. So instead I'll say that my favourite shade in the two palettes are Liar for Naked 3 which is described as "medium metallic mauve shimmer" and Kalahari from AGCTW which is described as "gold confection" (the left side of their Kalahari Eyeshadow Duo). There are clear dents on these two shades on my palettes, I love them so much!
Mascara, I will have to say Benefit They're Real holds the top spot. I don't know how to describe it. Too Faced Better Than Sex comes in at a close second because though they're both great at making my lashes seemed full, the Too Faced can sometimes clump my lashes. I have a pile of mascara in my stash, so I'll be putting a lot of them to the test next year! I'm really looking forward to that.
Aah the part I am dreading the most; my favourite lip products. I honestly put down in writing in my Moleskine of all my favourite lipsticks and there are too many!
Lip balm, Nuxe Rêve De Miel Lip Balm.. easy!
For a lazy day out, I tend to reach for Tarte LipSurgence Skintuitive Lip Tint. It's very moisturising and though it's kinda clear in the stick, once you put it on it'll give you a nice pink tint to the lips after a while. Gimicky, yes but I love it anyway!
Now, as for lipstick.. tsk. I suppose I should say that my favourite has to be NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Luxembourg. It was a toss-up between this and NARS Semi-Matte Lipstick in Funny Face really. (I am of course, ADORING the Audacious line but we're talking about this year's favourite and I've only had them for a few weeks.)
Yayy we're almost done now.
My favourite Body item has got to be Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter. Love the smell and it moisturises my skin like no other. But I am feeling that my skin may have been immune to it now; it doesn't work as well as it used to. I will have to try some other things soon.
As for Hair, I can't see myself using any normal conditioner so I'll stick to Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque for as long as I can! This stuff is.. pretty pricey. Felt like hitting myself in the head when I first bought it but it lasts so long and it works for my super dry curls so I shouldn't complain. heh
I also loved Josie Maran Argan Oil Hair Serum. I say "loved" because I just ran out of it a few weeks ago and I'm currently trying something else. Anyway, it was also another pricey product but the bottle lasted a year for me! It moisturises my hair and smells oh-so-goood!
On to the final product for this super long entry -- Nail Polish! Though I have dozens of these, my favourite shade is hands down, NARS Follow Me which was from last year's holiday collection. It'll be a major bummer once I've used it up but I've found an almost-dupe for it in the form of China Glaze Pink Chiffon.
And that is it!!
Thank you for reading this super long and elaborated entry of things that I've loved this year. Believe it or not it took one week for me to finish writing it! I was all pumped about writing and once I got to deciding my favourite lip products, I hit a wall, got bored of trying to decide and took a six-day rest from this post! HAHAHAHHA! Talk about being fickle..
"Life" round-up next and I don't have a week to write that one, oy!
